for a sweet baby boy

I've had to switch gears the past couple of days to work on a baby gift for a friend who had a little boy a couple of weeks ago. I just finished hand stitching the binding on the flannel blanket (it's so nice and soft) and the idea came from a book called Last Minute Patchwork & Quilted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson. It's hard to tell from the picture, but the orange, blue and red fabrics have small white dots all over them and are called Freckles by Free Spirit; the sailboat print is by Robert Kaufman.

I saw that sailing boat fabric at a new fabric shop I found the other day and I've been regretting not buying some ever since... It looks perfect for a baby boy gift - they're bound to love it.
