Yea, the Carnival String quilt is done!
This has to be the largest quilt I've finished. It measured 90" x 100" before washing. I measured it quickly after washing and drying and it only shrunk up about 5" in each direction. It's still well within a queen size quilt!
A simple diagonal quilting worked well for this quilt. I had tried stippling, but the variegated thread kept breaking. So, diagonal quilting it was and I think it works well with this design and all the patterened fabrics.
The back design was a special request from my client. She wanted the verse "I Belong to the Lord" Isiah 44:5 on the back. I made up my letters as I went along and used the printed fabrics from the front to help make the letters. I was so happy when I had it all made and the verse fit perectly in one line across the back.
This is one heavy quilt; it weighs over 10 pounds!
I'm trilled to have it finished and I'm sure it will look beautiful in it's new home!

That is so gorgeous with all of the bright colors -- and then the verse on top of everything else...that is one special quilt!
It is absolutely gorgeous! Great work!
I love it! I really love the verse on the back too!
This is incredible. The top is amazing, and I LOVE the back. What a great idea! I don't know that verse, either - definitely a new favorite.
Beautifully done! That is quite the project!
Oh, heavens. That is magnificent! I especially love how you put the verse on the back, as I would've never thought of something like that. I especially love that dark blue (is it?) minky looking fabric thrown in the front. Or at least, I'm assuming that's what that is.
Just wondering, how much would you charge for something like that?
Beautiful indeed!
Your carnival quilt is gorgeous and the name is a perfect fit! The back is amazing!

Gorgeous! I hadn't thought of using minky in the blocks -- and it looks so fantastic!
Wow! It's absolutely beautiful. I'm in love with all the bright colors. What a happy quilt to look at on a dreary spring day!
Jessica, you did a beautiful job on this quilt. I love the small quote you incorporated on the back. This will be loved for many years to come.
This quilt... oh my... it makes me want to CRY... for two reasons: First,I cannot free-motion quilt and I have let this hold me back, thinking that this is a handicap. So, when I see such a gorgeous quilt that has minimal quilting, and straight line at that, it gives me courage to quilt MY way, instead of thinking I have to do it someone else's way! Second, I love, love, LOVE navy (or dark) blues and I very rarely see them in quilts!!! I've actually had a very hard time even finding dark, navy-ish blue fabrics. This quilt is just stunning and I am so inspired. Okay, I'll stop gushing now. Thank you!
Well, I just realized that that could be purple, and now I feel like an idiot. But it looks blueish and I love purple-y blues, too=)
wow - I think I might be in love with those Carnival strings
