We had a few minutes of sun the other day, so I took some pictures of this quilt out on our deck!
One of the fun details about this quilt is the accent color in the binding. I added a little green strip of fabric using Julie's Binding Flange Tutorial. It's so simple and easy to do!
The star is made out of selvages, the part you cut off fabric that tells you the manufacturer and designer. It also has those fun dots that show you all the different colors in that particular fabric. I've kept them for quite a long time and thought this would be a great project to use some for.
The star pattern is like a quilt that Sarah London made a while ago. She has a tutorial on how to make the star and that's what I used for this little quilt. You have to draw your own diamond shape, and mine was a bit off when I first made this. It didn't want to lay flat, so I had to take the white parts off and re-cut them. It went together much better with a few custom adjustments.
I think I'll hang this cute one in our play room for a while!

Love the quilting with the different colored threads!
I love this. I am so inspired to make it. I told a lady at our local fabric store about how everyone is using the selvages on the end. She thought that was crazy. She should really check it out because it is so cool.
So beautiful! Love the binding (have bookmarked that, thanks!) and the hand stitching is perfect! Thanks for sharing.

I adore this! The binding looks awesome, too. I have a bag by my sewing table where I keep all of my selvages, hoping to one day make something awesome like this! :)
