Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt Top!

Farmer's Wife Quilt Top - flying in the breeze!
Hello!
Well, we're starting to adjust to summer break around here and I've been slowly working on sewing this quilt top together in the evenings. I added the last 2 side border pieces this morning. I wanted to finish it last night, but realized after I had sewn one of the borders on that I was out of bobbin thread and had to redo that seam. I decided to take a break after that. :)

I am very happy with how the dark sashing has turned out. It really makes the bright colors shine and adds a lot of contrast within the quilt.

It's super windy outside this morning but I wanted to get some pictures taken when I had the time. I kind of like the spotty sunlight coming from behind.
It's so nice to have this quilt top put together. I started making the blocks in June of 2011 when Angela and Amanda started The Farmer's Wife Quilt Along on flickr. I can't believe that was a year ago already!

I'm not sure how I'm going to do the quilting on this one. I may just have to think about it for a while and see what I come up with. I guess, I'd just like to do something a little more than stippling.

Congratulations! It turned out beautifully. I agree with the comment about the stained-glass effect. That's what I thought of when I first saw the images. Gorgeous job.

Oh, LOVE! It motivates me to get going on my own!

Gorgeous! I also thought stained glass. It will almost be a shame to quilt it! I think teacups would look cool. Some sort of all-over traditional design. Wonderful choice with th sashing!

What a fantastic job you did! The top looks simply splendid. With the light behind it, it is reminiscent of stained glass windows. When you get it quilted, it will still have that same lovely look.

Good call on the dark sashing! I'll have to remember that for one of my next quilts!

Oh, wow, that brown really is great with all the prints. I normally run screaming from brown, but I like this.

Great, another colour I've been schooled about!

It's really beautiful, it almost looks like stained glass. In the last photo, I recognize a lot of the fabrics. Good for you for finishing the top, I haven't quite finished mine yet.

I'm one of your many followers and I was so worried when you picked out your sashing and background fabrics--I thought it would ruin the quilt! But you're obviously a superior quilter and color-picker-outer because this looks AMAZING!!! I'm so impressed with the way this turned out! Great work. :)

One of the best Farmer's Wife I've seen. Without sounding redundant, (which this will be....) stained glass was the exact description that popped to mind when I first saw the photo of the quilt. Delightful!

I really like the brown you used for the sashing. I am curious about how you chose the fabrics for the blocks. Did you pick a color by medium, light, dark or randomly select them? I really adore scrapy quilts.
