It's hard for me to believe that it's the end of June already. I thought I'd stop by today and update the blog with a few pictures of the sewing projects I've done over the past six months. I've been sewing lots of slipcovers and loving it! Here's a selection of some of the projects I've worked on...</div>

Hello and welcome.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, here we are starting off another year! I have lots of hope for a great year ahead and I'm going to make it a point to share more things in this space. I have sewing projects planned and some home renovation projects that I'm dreaming of. I've been cleaning and organizing the house the past few weeks and I'm going to need to go through the sewing room soon!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've had these pictures taken since last year and I was hoping for a sunny day to take some brighter and warmer pictures but I don't think that's going to happen any time soon. We're into the cold, snowy days of winter but I wanted to share with you a few projects I've been working on.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/594/23743094746_fca67a31a1_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/594/23743094746_fca67a31a1_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Over the past few months I've been rearranging and making my sewing area more useable. My husband built me this wonderful 4' x 7' cutting table! I'm so glad to move up off the floor to cut out cushion pieces. The top is a sheet of galvanized zinc and I'm hoping that over time it will get a nice patina on it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5670/23473464810_e983d79e37_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5670/23473464810_e983d79e37_k.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The legs of the table are from a vintage or antique rope bed. They are so pretty. We turned them upside down and we used spindles from a jenny lind bed as a border that goes around three sides of the lower shelf. I thought that would be nice detail to add and that it would help hold things on the shelf. I found the rope bed pieces and spindles at <a href="https://www.facebook.com/CherryPickersIN/">Cherry Pickers</a> in Shipshewana, IN. They have a wonderful shop and I know I'll have to stop there every time I pass through Shipshewana.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5692/23743037986_237cee14a4_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5692/23743037986_237cee14a4_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5807/23142371363_7d1d914e80_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5807/23142371363_7d1d914e80_k.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I added a few different salvaged architectural elements to the room such as the corbels shown above and the ones under the countertop (shown below).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5783/23769171895_c13697cd0b_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5783/23769171895_c13697cd0b_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5664/23473499010_c55ad249f3_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5664/23473499010_c55ad249f3_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These corbels came from a house in Grand Rapids. I love their scalloped details and cherry cutouts on the side. They were covered in grime and lots of layers of gloppy paint but they were worth the time to restore them and add some history to my room. I figure if I have to spend lots of hours working here I might as well enjoy the view, too. :)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1544/24318578735_9c35ccd5e7_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1544/24318578735_9c35ccd5e7_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Before Christmas last year, I had the pleasure of making a pair of slipcovers for these unusual wing back chairs. These chairs were really tall and I think it's so fun to see the before and after pictures. They look completely different, don't they?!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5720/23742928856_76901feb14_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5720/23742928856_76901feb14_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My client, Amber of <a href="http://ambervanh.wix.com/i-do-signs">i.do.signs</a> brought these chairs to me and she wanted the covers made out of painters drop cloth fabric and chunky piping. It worked so well for these chairs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5735/23473345010_fb5bdb5963_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5735/23473345010_fb5bdb5963_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/689/23686607321_da5a248e05_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/689/23686607321_da5a248e05_k.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The slipcovers didn't need zippers in the back to get them on and off easily. So they look neat and tidy on the back.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1632/24210573912_7a768af44e_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="395" src="https://farm2.staticflickr.com/1632/24210573912_7a768af44e_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Amber shared this picture of the chairs on <a href="https://www.instagram.com/i.do.signs/">Instagram</a>! They look beautiful in her home and I know she will enjoy the versatility of having slipcovers for them when she wants to change up the look in her room.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
For the past few months, I've had the pleasure of working with Joyce of <a href="http://vintagegreenantiques.net/">Vintage Green Antiques</a>. She owns an adorable antique shop in Grand Haven and I've been making new covers for all of her outdoor and porch furniture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/592/22551205299_461b28cfe7_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/592/22551205299_461b28cfe7_b.jpg" width="480" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Joyce really wanted a cohesive new look for her porch and we decided to use painters drop cloths as the fabric for the cushions. I think it's nice to have a neutral backdrop that can show off all her cute pillows and home decor items. It is also a great way to get a large amount of heavier weight fabric for a lower price (as long as you like the creamy color). We used 3~12'x15' painters tarps for over 20 new cushion covers! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's some porch pictures she's kindly shared with me...</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Her porch has a whole new look and it's so nice that she can take these covers off and wash them when they get dirty. It's fall here in Michigan and about time to close things up for the winter but come next spring, Joyce is going to have a fun and relaxing spot to sit!</div>

<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/326/19694136934_81a993464a_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/326/19694136934_81a993464a_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
My kids are back to school this week so I am enjoying some more computer and sewing time!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's a chair that I worked on making a slipcover for over the summer. For this one, I used a lightweight gray linen. The back cushion was attached so I cut that off and made a new cover for it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5747/21245570835_7b40e29591_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5747/21245570835_7b40e29591_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For the skirt on this one, I kept it as short as I could so that the front feet would show. The side of the upholstery on the chair had a dip to it, so I had to keep the skirt a little longer to cover that part.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5708/20622873774_9a59c8fd24_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5708/20622873774_9a59c8fd24_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5704/20622899454_b56128205a_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5704/20622899454_b56128205a_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The back turned out nice with a zipper up the side. This chair will be so cute in my clients guest room! It's a neutral option and can go with so many different decorating styles.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5706/21235030182_c0938b495a_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5706/21235030182_c0938b495a_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Over the past few weeks our chickens have started laying eggs! It's been very exciting for the kids (and me, too). We bought some chicks (6 of them but one turned out to be a rooster) earlier this spring and have been enjoying watching them grow up. We have three Ameraucana hens that are starting to lay the pretty pale blue/green eggs. Those are the ones I'm most excited about...just because they're a different in color than a white or brown egg.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/615/21057403890_3725d724d9_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/615/21057403890_3725d724d9_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's one of our Ameraucana hens, I think this one is Swagger. They all have "S" names...Sunny, Snickers, Swagger, Snuggle and Sadie. ;) Needless to say, the kids have loved it and they've really been easy to care for.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hopefully your week is off to a good start!</div>

Happy Sewing,</div>

<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/681/20166963424_0ed94b93f2_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/681/20166963424_0ed94b93f2_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I was at it again this weekend painting a Longaberger basket with Chalk Paint! I have quite a few of these basket and most of them live in closets because the colors aren't just right for my home. I'd really like to enjoy using them again so a few of them have been painted! I know, you may cringe at the thought of painting one of these baskets but I figure I'll enjoy them much more this way. I've been seeing these baskets quite often at thrift stores so I like this idea of updating them instead of donating them!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/633/20815692862_59b8faa713_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/633/20815692862_59b8faa713_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here are the two that I've painted so far. They do take quite a long time to paint and I've used a combination of a big brush and a small brush to get into all the spaces with the paint. Each basket took two coats and I did paint the inside as well. The paint I've used is <a href="http://www.anniesloan.com/">Annie Sloan</a> Chalk Paint. The color of the big basket is Duck Egg and the small is Provence. I haven't waxed either basket but I've thought of trying it on the small one. </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
This small basket is from 1994 and is called a Jingle Bell Basket. It had a Christmas fabric liner in it so I cut it apart to make a pattern for a new one. It's so cute now, even my husband was impressed with the results!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://farm1.staticflickr.com/642/20798893356_7bb5a28cbc_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://farm1.staticflickr.com/642/20798893356_7bb5a28cbc_b.jpg" height="426" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The fabric is from a collection called Clementine by <a href="http://heatherbailey.typepad.com/">Heather Bailey</a> for Free Spirit Fabrics. It's so cute! I'm inspired to make some more things with that collection soon.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
This large basket now holds lots of smaller quilts and lives in my sewing area. I love it now.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
My husband has been working on a new cutting table for me. This weekend he worked on the bottom shelf. The table legs are from an old rope bed that I found at a neat salvage store called Cherry Pickers in Shipshewana. I love these chunky turned bed posts! The table is going to be nice and tall and I'm so excited to not have to cut everything on the floor anymore. I'm hoping this will save my back and provide a lot of storage for my slipcovering projects.</div>

<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/274/19745872096_a55f298bdc_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/274/19745872096_a55f298bdc_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Over the past couple of months, I helped my sister make some new slipcovers for a pair of arm chairs that she wanted to use in her newly finished basement. I found a bolt of light gray fabric for super cheap at our local Habitat Restore and we used that to make the slipcovers. It wasn't the best fabric for slipcovers because it had a sticky backing on it but for $3.00 we could make it work.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/311/19642287206_15a77238d6_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/311/19642287206_15a77238d6_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The picture above is what one of the chairs looked like when we started. Jennifer had made the slipcover years ago and even though it is still cute, it didn't go with the new look in her basement.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/350/19149454854_8690f0e8a6_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/350/19149454854_8690f0e8a6_b.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We used lots of velcro to help go around all the arms and parts of the chair that are wood. It was a little tricky to figure out, but the box pleats helped in working around the arms.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3722/19772053395_775dae529c_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3722/19772053395_775dae529c_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3781/19151151583_7782f5247b_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3781/19151151583_7782f5247b_b.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
We ended up not having enough fabric to do the box pleats all around both chairs, so the back has a flat panel and part of the sides do too. I think it works just fine and since the back is up against the wall most of the time and you'll never notice the difference.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/311/19764780392_443f4272ba_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/311/19764780392_443f4272ba_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3812/19583170450_29378dbce6_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3812/19583170450_29378dbce6_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I also found a few pictures of a pair of bench cushions that I made earlier this spring. It was such pretty upholstery fabric!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/497/19745040066_1a1d9f423d_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/497/19745040066_1a1d9f423d_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

I hope your week is off to a good start. </div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/464/19476750641_7991bcd2d2_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/464/19476750641_7991bcd2d2_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
Good Morning!<br />
I'm up early in a quiet house (so far) and I thought I'd take some time to share with you a slipcover that I've worked on over the past few weeks. The before picture is above and a few in progress pictures are below.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/448/19763234452_b96101d1b0_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/448/19763234452_b96101d1b0_z.jpg" width="300" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3668/19642128106_a2e2295222_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3668/19642128106_a2e2295222_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
Here it is with it's new slipcover. The fabric is the same herringbone fabric that I used on another <a href="http://twinfibers.blogspot.com/2015/05/loveseat-slipcover.html">loveseat</a> a few months ago! It's a great fabric with a little pattern to it and a neutral color. (the fabric is by Richloom...named Olson Woven Herringbone in cement)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3686/19642100136_3e056db35b_z.jpg%5B/img" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3686/19642100136_3e056db35b_z.jpg%5B/img" width="426" /></a></div>
This loveseat has a tight back (meaning there were not any separate back cushions). There was a bit if a dip in the center and a crease there, so I ran piping down the middle back to fit in that groove.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/398/19661213692_c639bccf69_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/398/19661213692_c639bccf69_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/380/19045741054_69af45eca1_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm1.staticflickr.com/380/19045741054_69af45eca1_z.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
I hope your Friday is off to a good start! I'm going to be working on some sewing projects and maybe a little painting, too. The summer swim season for my kids is almost done so I'm looking forward to a little more time with projects around the house.<br />

<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3665/19661881582_b80b2c4353_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3665/19661881582_b80b2c4353_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This week, I'm going to try and play "catch up"! I have quite a few slipcover projects to share and the first one up is a scrolled back chair that I finished up a month or so ago. As you can see from the picture below, this chair started with a heavy floral pattern. The chair was in great shape and was still comfortable so a new slipcover gave it a whole new life!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3692/19046147804_d86f102f21_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3692/19046147804_d86f102f21_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
My client's interior designer choose a heavy weight upholstery fabric just to make sure that the floral didn't show through. It was a beautiful fabric with a little sheen to it.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3818/19481902379_72881d47b9_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3818/19481902379_72881d47b9_z.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I followed a lot of the same lines as the base of the chair with the piping and I really like how the side profile looks. It was a bit of a challenge with all the curves but I'm really pleased with how it all came together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3770/19480529998_54eda61fde_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3770/19480529998_54eda61fde_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I hope to be back in the next day or so with another slipcover project. My kids are finishing up the summer swim team this week so I hope to have a little more time for some fun sewing, too! Maybe even a knitting project...I haven't picked up the needles in quite a while and I'm itching to knit something, too.</div>

<a href="https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7793/17575619974_0b29acb1d9_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7793/17575619974_0b29acb1d9_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today was one of those days where I just needed something new and fun to work on for a little while. <a href="http://www.lauragunn.com/">Laura Gunn</a> so kindly shared with me some of her new fabrics several weeks ago. I've been thinking about them ever since and today I just decided to cut into them and try something out! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The fabrics are from Laura's collection called Vignette by <a href="http://www.michaelmillerfabrics.com/shop/designers/laura-gunn-1.html">Michael Miller Fabrics</a>. I had a sampling of fabrics from a colorway that includes lots of pretty blues, oranges and greens. There are a couple prints in that have flowers in little glass bottles that are so cute and many others that have great textures. I used a gray texture print for the background on this little quilt and a green one for the back side.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7786/18199709442_b920e1b75c_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://c4.staticflickr.com/8/7786/18199709442_b920e1b75c_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
For this little quilt, I drew out a petal shape and used that to cut out all my pieces. I layered the two texture fabrics with a piece of batting on the inside and pinned all the petal shapes through the layers. I just stitched around the petal shapes leaving about a 1/4" border. Then I cut out the mini quilt leaving a border around it all and threw it in the wash! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8841/18015548838_d0494f0e1b_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8841/18015548838_d0494f0e1b_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I quite like the raggedy edges. It's casual and fun and just what I needed for a couple hours today!<br />Happy Sewing,</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I've been doing some sewing for my own home over the weekend and today! I purchased some white linen fabric and used it to make a couple of pillows. I'm interested to see how the linen wears and softens over time since I've seen some really pretty linen slipcovers online.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8861/18125943475_0662daa8c9_k.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8861/18125943475_0662daa8c9_k.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The first pillow is made using bias cut strips of fabric that are sewn onto the pillow top in a lattice pattern.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5339/17857345900_5018d6ef99_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/6/5339/17857345900_5018d6ef99_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I simply drew lines on the pillow front with a pencil and top stitched the bias strip through the center. Super simple and I think it really makes a nice textured design. I kind of roughed up the edges to make it a little more crinkly and worn look. Hopefully it will only improve over time!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7756/17938209130_ceeab8651e_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7756/17938209130_ceeab8651e_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The second pillow has a box pleat all around the outside. It's also simple and pretty. I like to think the texture of the linen fabric is best shown off that way.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7659/18123714771_90c9d4c08d_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://c2.staticflickr.com/8/7659/18123714771_90c9d4c08d_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8886/17939734349_1cc8721731_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="https://c1.staticflickr.com/9/8886/17939734349_1cc8721731_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here they are all ready to be put to use!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
While I was outside taking pictures this morning, I came across these mushrooms. We seem to have so many different mushrooms that pop up throughout the seasons. I'm thinking I should take more pictures of them just for fun. There seems to be an amazing variety and it might be fun to do a little picture book of them at some point. I'm not sure it will ever happen, but it's a nice thought. :)</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I know I've been seeing tons of peony pictures already but here are mine so far this year. There are many more buds than last year and of course, I can't wait for them to bloom!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I finished up this slipcover project last week. The before (picture below) and after pictures are fun to see. The furniture was in great condition, it just needed an update with fabric!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7769/17141127797_64d50fbb43_h.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="488" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7769/17141127797_64d50fbb43_h.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's a good shot of the fabric (and as far as I can tell the most accurate for color). From far away, it looks like a solid but it's actually a tan/gray and cream woven herringbone. It's quite a heavyweight upholstery fabric but it worked well for this project.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
This past weekend, I had the treat of travelling to the Salt Lake City, UT area for a Slipcovering Workshop hosted by Shelley of <a href="http://www.slipcoversbyshelley.com/blog">Slipcovers by Shelley</a>. I wanted to attend so that I could learn how she runs her business and to pick up some tips and tricks with making and sewing slipcovers. But, I think I learned so much more than that! </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The Workshop portion of the trip was held on Friday and Saturday but Meredith (one of the attendees) and I did a job shadowing day on Thursday. We asked all sorts of questions about how Shelley runs her business and just generally picked her brain on all aspects of slipcovering. It was a wonderful way to answer all my questions and see first hand to things can be done... especially since I don't know a lot about the business aspect of all of this. But, I'm learning and that's the important part. I'm glad to have Shelley as a mentor and I'm so grateful that she is so open and generous with her knowledge.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8721/17279599266_000362bf0b_h.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8721/17279599266_000362bf0b_h.jpg" width="474" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
On Friday and Saturday we (Shelley, me and three other attendees) gathered to work on a slipcovering a piece of furniture. Shelley found this wing back rocking chair for me to work on. I wanted something that would challenge me (lots of curves) and since I haven't slipcovered a wing back chair yet, this was perfect.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7661/16685286183_6380e4544e_h.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7661/16685286183_6380e4544e_h.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's the set up that we had in the studio. We each took over a corner...Amy in the upper left, Vicki in the upper right, Meredith in the lower right and me in the lower left. Shelley started demonstrating on the blue and white chair in the front and then we were all off to start our own chairs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8798/17305120521_9dacc5ba52_h.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8798/17305120521_9dacc5ba52_h.jpg" width="638" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's what mine ended up looking like. It was too bad I couldn't take it with me...it turned out really cute!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8755/17305739645_2f4a7ad14d_h.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8755/17305739645_2f4a7ad14d_h.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I did a box pleated skirt around the bottom (I ripped off the old skirt that was there).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7681/17279683116_43959e100e_h.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7681/17279683116_43959e100e_h.jpg" width="504" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
There wasn't even a need for a zipper on the back of this one. Since the tuck ins on the front wings are large enough it just slips on and off easily.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Shelley, Meredith, Amy and Vicki were such a nice group of women to spend time with. I'm so thankful I was able to attend and I'm excited to apply the things I've learned!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Yesterday I worked on rearranging my sewing area and tonight I'm looking at adding another industrial machine to my collection... a blind hemmer. :) I hope that turns out well, I think it would be nice to have for the future.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Happy Sewing,</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
These projects were so fun to do. I think I keep saying that slipcovers change the whole look and feel of the room and that I love seeing that change. Maybe it's just that it's "me" who gets to create that change and execute it and I suppose that gives me a great amount of joy and satisfaction. I really am loving this kind of work and am excited about what the future holds.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I've been sewing a lot the past few weeks, so I have some fun things to share with you. First up is a couch that I sewed a white slipcover for. It looks like a completely different couch (you can see the before picture below)! It's a sleek and trim slipcover with a waterfall skirt and a 2" blind hem.</div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8683/16694044551_45cd6d2388_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8683/16694044551_45cd6d2388_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Ethan Allen Couch - before slipcovering</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8637/16695441975_3dcc4f6690_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8637/16695441975_3dcc4f6690_b.jpg" width="425" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love how all the piping looks on the cushions and slipcover base. One of the fun things for me with creating slipcovers is seeing the change in the look of a piece of furniture just by cutting up and sewing fabric back together. It's really satisfying when it all works out and comes together in a finished piece.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another bit of exciting news for me is that I will be attending Shelley's <a href="http://www.slipcoversbyshelley.com/blog">Slipcovering Workshop</a> in April! I'm so excited to spend a few days near Salt Lake City and learn some tips and tricks for slipcovering from Shelley. More on that to come, for sure. :)</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thanks for stopping by!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Good Morning!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I feel like I haven't been in this place in quite a while. It's 2015 already...wow. I have a feeling that this will be a good year. I'm working hard at sewing almost every day. I've been making lots and lots of vinyl replacement chair covers for another company, so that has been a blessing and has kept me very occupied during the day (and sometimes the evenings, too). </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Over the past few weeks, I've had the pleasure of making a couch slipcover for a client. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8597/16145869088_7eedb6016a_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8597/16145869088_7eedb6016a_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's the before and after (below). My client chose a white bull denim from <a href="http://www.fabric.com/">fabric.com</a>. It's a beautiful and surprisingly soft fabric. It's wonderful that it's thick enough so that the floral upholstery doesn't show through.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7532/16151763149_7fcddaf052_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7532/16151763149_7fcddaf052_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
She didn't want the back cushions removed from the couch (they're attached) so I draped the fabric over it all and added some pleats on the side to help it drape nicely. I pieced the fabric in 3 sections to follow along with each of the back cushions.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7506/16336183241_3937698333_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7506/16336183241_3937698333_b.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7483/16150358018_d3854e5a5f_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="456" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7483/16150358018_d3854e5a5f_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7549/16337072492_35ea912981_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7549/16337072492_35ea912981_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It sure is quite the transformation and I'm so happy that my client was pleased with the results.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I'm looking forward to sewing more slipcovers this year!<br />~Jessica</div>

<a href="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7466/15921993792_5e41815865_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm8.staticflickr.com/7466/15921993792_5e41815865_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Another project I've worked on the past couple of weeks is a couple of chair cushions with ties. My client provided a custom printed canvas fabric from Spoonflower for the top and a gray textured fabric for the underside. It's a very pretty aqua and gray print, I'd love to see what the whole room looks like with these!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I used a tutorial (found <a href="http://www.fabhousewife.com/diy-rush-dining-chairs-get-a-comfy-update-with-tufted-cushions/" target="_blank">here</a>) to give me an idea of how to make these. I ended up finding some upholstery batting at the fabric store to cover the foam pads with. It sure gives the cushion nice rounded edges and I think it will hold up much better than regular batting or stuffing.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8621/15736911067_b47ac9694d_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8621/15736911067_b47ac9694d_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Here's the cushion tied to one of my dining room chairs. It doesn't have the same outline as the chairs these were made for, but it gives you a good idea of what it would look like.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8613/15922628385_9395ea4af9_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="426" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8613/15922628385_9395ea4af9_b.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Now this kind of makes me want to make all new covers for my dining room chairs in a fun fabric. :) The list never ends! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Hello!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's hard to believe that it's December 1 today. The past few months have gone by quickly and this week I'm going to try and share some of the sewing projects that I've been working on. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Up first is a custom chair cover project for a client. She chose an upholstery weight blue and cream fabric to have me make new covers for her cushions. I patterned these after the original covers, but added piping.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8641/15736588269_e9af6d4055_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8641/15736588269_e9af6d4055_b.jpg" width="426" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
They turned out so nice and look beautiful in her home. There was a set of two chairs that I made the covers for and my client painted the chairs with chalk paint and distressed them a little bit. That gave them a whole new look and with the fresh covers, they look like brand new chairs!</div>

<a href="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2950/15428569455_4947cc35f3_h.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://farm3.staticflickr.com/2950/15428569455_4947cc35f3_h.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Today it's cold, windy and rainy outside. It's very much a fall day here in West Michigan. I've got a little one home sick from school and I think I'm going to enjoy a day inside with him. This afternoon I have apples to make into applesauce so that should make the little guy happy.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This week I've been sewing quite a bit. I've had fat quarters of Up Parasol by <a href="http://heatherbailey.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Heather Bailey</a> for a little while and have been wanting to make something with it. I came up with this simple baby quilt and I think it shows off the larger scaled prints pretty well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3929/15241809199_9df0766044_h.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3929/15241809199_9df0766044_h.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I mixed in other Heather Bailey fabrics from various collections and they all go together really well. It sure is a girly quilt top! I choose some minky fabric for the backing (in the top picture). I haven't used that for a quilt backing but I thought I'd give it a try with a small quilt. I'm not sure how it will be to quilt with but it sure is soft. I wish I had a little batting in the house to baste it up with...I always need something that I don't have at home to finish a project! ;)</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3936/15242023017_cc51eade42_h.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3936/15242023017_cc51eade42_h.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3931/15224866387_018e166f77.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3931/15224866387_018e166f77.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Over the past week or so, I've been working on pulling together fabrics for a quilt for a client. She sent me a picture of a quilt that she loved and I've been trying to match fabrics to the picture. The pattern is called Remember Whooo Loves You by the <a href="http://www.acornquiltandgiftcompany.com/" target="_blank">Acorn Quilt & Gift Company</a>. It's so cute with the owl applique. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5598/15241996248_e28a0c6e3e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5598/15241996248_e28a0c6e3e.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I've altered the pattern and dimensions of everything to make it approximately a full size quilt. The center part is sewn together and now I just need to add the owl and branch applique.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5599/15428241992_a67fc6c800.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5599/15428241992_a67fc6c800.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
These are the fabrics for the rest of the quilt. The bottom two are border fabrics (the small seeds as an inner border and the dots as a large outer border) and the rest are for the owl and branches. I'm hoping to finish up the quilt top this weekend so I can bring it to be custom quilted next week. Should be a gorgeous quilt!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Have a great weekend and thanks for visiting with me here!</div>

<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3851/15136424457_a2636d0e0d_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3851/15136424457_a2636d0e0d_b.jpg" width="425" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I finished up this cute little baby girl quilt this past week! I always wanted to try making a quilt of all triangles set on point. Most of these triangles were left over parts from a couple of <a href="http://www.twinfibers.blogspot.com/2013/11/double-wrench-baby-quilts-finished.html" target="_blank">baby quilts</a> I made a while ago. I still loved the color combination and the fabric prints, so another quilt was born out of them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5586/15322645172_617696940e_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm6.staticflickr.com/5586/15322645172_617696940e_b.jpg" width="425" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I love how the rounded corners turned out on this one. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
It's going to be hard not to round all the corners on all the quilts now!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
This little quilt is going to be available in my <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/twinfiber" target="_blank">etsy shop</a> shortly. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope your week is off to a good start. The sun is shining here and I've been doing laundry and decorating for fall. Now I'm all inspired to repaint my sun porch and give it a whole new look. ...maybe later this week. We'll see how it goes! <div style="text-align: center;">
Hello!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Well, I'm officially back to slipcover making, sewing and quilting! Earlier this month, I sent all of my kids to school. It's been the first time in 15 years that I haven't had a little one by my side all day long. My oldest started high school, my oldest son started 6th grade and my youngest son started kindergarten. That has been such a great accomplishment for me and I'm so happy to see them enjoying school and learning from their wonderful teachers. It has been an adjustment for me (boy, the house is quiet during the day!) but I'm am learning to appreciate the time and peace. I have always loved being creative and I'm going to put these hours during the day to good use!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3866/15101435110_8a99561442_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3866/15101435110_8a99561442_z.jpg" width="425" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Last week, I made these four slipcovers for some parson chairs.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3839/15101377459_c86dfba906_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="425" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3839/15101377459_c86dfba906_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3838/15287748392_c06ebb523d_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3838/15287748392_c06ebb523d_z.jpg" width="425" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
The little pleated skirt on all of them was so worth it! I love the contrasting piping and little pleated skirt. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I hope you'll join me here more often as I'll be posting more about my sewing and slipcover making.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Thanks for visiting,</div>

<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3883/14458459819_c1c678601b_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3883/14458459819_c1c678601b_z.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This past weekend I needed a quick and fun project to do. <a href="http://www.camilleroskelley.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Camille's</a> Mini Dwell houses were fun to make and I just dug through the scrap boxes to find fabrics. Some of them used the tiniest pieces!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3845/14459332140_b98143e628_z.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://farm4.staticflickr.com/3845/14459332140_b98143e628_z.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
I had a little bit of Kona Sky to use as the background fabric and there really isn't any rhyme or reason to the color scheme. I just tried to find fabrics that kind of went together and that were a smaller size print.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">

<div style="text-align: center;">
I marked the quilting lines on with a disappearing marker and had to quickly quilt it before they all disappeared! I used an Aurifil Wool thread that I had gotten as a sample from the Sewing Summit years ago. I have to say, it gives a really neat look to the quilting. It kind of looks like a thin yarn. I think i'm going to have to see if I can find some more of it somewhere. </div>

So, here are my little Dwell houses! Tiny and cute and just the right project for me to have something fun and creative to work on over the weekend.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
I think this will be my third post this week! That's almost unheard of lately around here, but I've been working hard at finishing up some things and that's produced some good things to blog about.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
This quilt was finished up yesterday evening and I'm so happy with how it's turned out. It's so cute and cheerful!</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
The fabrics are a pretty mix of DS Quilts fabrics available at Jo-Ann's. I bought some of them a few months ago and was drawn to the bright intensity of their colors. I mixed them with some others that I had at home to add a little more variety.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
You can find this quilt for sale in<a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/twinfiber" target="_blank"> my etsy shop</a>. It was fun to make and hopefully this will be a well loved quilt for a little girl someday soon!</div>

I've had this pretty stack of fabrics siting out ever since I bought them at Jo-Ann's. The colors were so bright and cheerful. They just make you happy looking at them.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A couple of weeks ago, I cut them up into 3" squares and decided to try them out in another "Trip Around the World" design. It's a design that I really like. It's simple, you get to play around with fabric placement and just plain fun for me to make! </div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
This one is baby quilt sized. I'm thinking it needs a boy version as a companion. I'm not making them for any particular reason... maybe they'll end up in my etsy shop when I'm done with them. They sure would brighten up any nursery and provide a lot of pattern and color for a baby to look at.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
Now I need to figure out how I'm going to quilt it and get started!</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Happy Sewing...</div>
